Did you all have a good Thanksgiving? We did. We are thankful to the many wonderful people who donated to the staff's annual craft and bake sale. In the week before Turkey Day, we took in a total of $657.60. Special thanks go to Jean Keefe and Joan Kahl who set up the sale. Joan, although officially retired from the library, still knits all year for us. Most of the knitted products on the tables were her endeavors! Watch for new books soon!
Another thank you goes to Lynn Hodges of Prudential Rush Realty. Lynn has donated two stacks of baskets for your use in collecting materials to check out of the library. Grocery stores have had the small baskets for ages and they're just beginning to take on a life in libraries. Lynn enthusiastically supported the idea and offered to get baskets for both the adult and children's areas. Stop in and use a basket. We also have Lynn to thank for an infusion of new books in October.
A group of people trying to start an official Friends of the Library group has been meeting throughout the year. There has been interest in the group, but not enough commitment to officially incorporate. There will be a mailing to interested parties in January with notice of one final meeting to "get the show on the road." If the commitment is there, then a Friends Group will incorporate; if not, at least we tried.
