HAMPTON HEROES TOO!

by Cynthia Stosse

Children's Librarian, Lane Memorial Library

June 18, 2004

The summer reading program at the Lane Memorial Library is “Check out a Hero.” We will have many local heroes meeting with our children this summer.

But, do not underestimate our children. This summer, a collection of gently used backpacks will begin. Any backpacks can be dropped off in the Children’s Room of the library through August 10, 2004. They will be presented to our local food pantry at the end of summer reading for the school year starting in September.

For the last program on August 5, 2004, a collection of “kid-friendly” snacks will be collected. This includes juice boxes and healthy, non-perishable snacks that children enjoy. This donation will also be presented to our local food pantry in anticipation of the new school year.

If you have any questions about our program or this collection, please contact the Children’s Room at 926-4729. By the end of the summer reading program, there will be many more heroes in Hampton.
