FOOD FOR THOUGHT -- The Friends of the Lane Memorial Library held a Book and Bake Sale last week to raise funds for ongoing work in the Children's Room. With student artwork gracing the walls of the Wheaton Lane Room, there were plenty of treats for the tastebuds as well as a great selection of books from which to choose, as discoverd by these folks who happened to stop by. HAMPTON -- In celebration of National Library Week, the Friends of the Lane Memorial Library held a raffle for gift/book baskets, a bake sale and a gently used children's book sale. The total amount raised for the threeday event was $600.

The raffle basket winners included Chris Domingos, Carolyn Cockling, Shea Libbey, Isabelle Domingos, Allison Griffin, Johanna Rangel, Nichole Wilcox, and Nancy Osgood.

A great deal of teamwork went into planning and running this event. The Friends, Lane Library Trustees and Library staff members who assisted with this fundraiser should be commended.

The Friends would like to plan another book sale fundraiser for July, this time including both adult and children’s materials. (Please drop off donations at the library.) This fundraiser will be discussed at the next Friends meeting on Tuesday, May 18 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Dorothy Little Room. All are welcome to attend.

Currently, the Friends are holding a half-price membership sale, since membership period begins in September. Single membership is just $5 and family membership is $7.50.

The Friends of the Lane Memorial Library are a multiage volunteer group whose mission is to preserve and strengthen the library as a community resource. Fundraising efforts directly benefit the Lane Memorial Library. For more information about the Friends please visit www.hampton.lib.nh.us/ library/ friends.

RAFFLE WINNERS -- The Friends of the Lane Memorial Library held a fundraising book/bake sale and raffle to celebrate National Library Week. Rhoda Garfinkel did the drawings; she is pictured here with Shea Libbey, who won a gift basket after she and two of her friends purchased ticket after ticket just before the drawing in hopes of winning something. According to Assistant Library Director Bill Teschek, "Everyone there was thrilled when one of the girls won."
