Summer Reading Signups June 13th
It is summer again and again time for the summer reading program!
The theme is “Reading Rocks the Granite State” and we will rock the library with our reading, programs and fun.
Sign ups will begin on Friday, June 13th. The programs will begin on June 25 - 26. Program information will be available when you sign up.
Non-readers will have a storytime every Wednesday through the end of July. Our first meeting will be with a very special guest. The author of “The Cat who Liked Potato Soup” will share her book and her story. On June 26th, at 6:30 PM, the library will be rocking with Wayne from Maine and his special program designed just for the summer reading program. Space is limited, so sign up early.
We will again be counting the time spent reading! For every half-hour that you read, a ticket will be dropped into the treasure box. On July 31st, at our end of reading bash, we will draw winners for lots of great prizes, one being a bicycle donated by Wal-Mart!
The more you read, the better your chances.

(Great Stone Face Award book lists are available in the children’s room. These are chapter books written for fourth through sixth grade students and are voted on during National Library Week in the Spring.)
Our annual book sale will be held June 19th - 21st. Many children’s books have been weeded from the collection and many donated. All children’s books will be sold for $.25 or 5/$1.00.
If you have any books that you would like to donate, please bring them to the children’s room before the sale. Some may be added to the collection and some may be sold.
Please call the children’s room at 926-4729 with any questions.
It may not be known, but your library books can be renewed. This is not the policy at all libraries, but it is at Lane Memorial Library.
All of the materials in the children’s room are checked out for two weeks. If you cannot return the books on the date due, call 926-4729. The staff will be happy to renew any items that no one is waiting for. We encourage everyone to return your library materials within that second two-week period, but if that cannot be done, items can be renewed twice.
Certain items cannot be renewed - holiday books during the month of that holiday and books that many students are waiting to complete school projects. Any book that has been reserved cannot be renewed
