Lane Memorial Library patrons can now quench their thirst at a new water station funded by the Friends of the Lane Library. After learning earlier this year of the elimination of the library's bottled water budget, Friends volunteers brainstormed with library staff member Darrell Eifert about possible solutions.
"Obviously library visitors of all ages need access to water, and we wanted the resolution in place before the heat kicked in," said Gloria Goudreau, president of the Friends. The result is a new water station on the main floor featuring chilled, filtered water, dedicated counter space, and a Friends announcement board.
"We are incredibly appreciative to the Friends for their generosity and support," said Eifert, who worked with the Friends to find a contractor and plumber to fit within their budget.
