Hampton Beach's first sewer discharge pipe, September 9, 1908. This pipe discharged raw sewage into the ocean 300 yards from the low tide mark opposite Church Street. It was rebuilt in 1917 with two more pipes added, one at the mouth of the Hampton River and one between G and H Streets. These continued until 1934 when the unsanitary conditions in the water finally motivated the town to construct a treatment plant. |
