HAMPTON -- Philbrick Children's Park in Hampton will be dedicated during a special ceremony, scheduled to take place on Flag Day, Friday, June 14, at 2 p.m.

The park is located on Reddington Landing, off Mill Road, near the North Hampton town line. It is named in memory of Steven Jay Philbrick, who was born on October 4, 1949, graduated from Winnacunnet High School in 1968 and joined the United States Marine Corps.

Philbrick began a tour of duty on February 14, 1969. On June 6,1969, at the age of 19, Steven Jay Philbrick was killed in action in the service of our country in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam.

The public can find Steven Jay Philbrick honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. on Panel 23W, Row 91.

The dedication program on June 14 will consist of the following: Presentation of Colors by the Winnacunnet High School Jr. R.O.T.C.; Remembrances and Remarks: Hampton Recreation & Parks Director Ms. Dyana Lassonde; Hampton Town Manager Mr. James Barrington; Hampton Board of Selectmen Chairman, Mr. James Workman; Retired USMC Colonel Paul Lessard; American Legion Post 35 Commander Mr. Ralph G. Fatello; Mr. Dan Nersesian whose brother Bob was friend of Steven's; and Mr. Jeff Philbrick, Steven's brother.

The unveiling of the Memorial Plaque will be performed by Ms. Dyana Lassonde & Mr. Don Philbrick, Steven's father. The Retirement of Colors will follow, performed by the Winnacunnet High School Jr. R.O.T.C.
