HAMPTON -- Ruth S. True, 93, of 31 Mill Road died Friday, Nov. 28, 1997, at Exeter Healthcare, Inc., after a brief illness.
She was born Nov. 3, 1904, in Amesbury, Mass., the daughter of the late George and Annie Mabel (Currier) Thompson. She was a direct descendant of Richard Currier, one of the first settlers of Amesbury in 1658.
She was a 1922 graduate of Amesbury High School and a 1925 graduate of the Perry Kindergarten Normal School, Boston.
Mrs. True taught at Pound Primary School in East Kingston and at Prospect Street School in Amesbury.
She was one of the founders of Trinity Episcopal Church in Hampton and helped start the Nearly New Shop at the church. She was a member of the E.W.C. and the Altar Guild at the church. She was a former trustee of the Lane Memorial Library in Hampton.
The widow of Russell M. True, who died in 1985, she is survived by one son and wife, Richard and Alberta True of Hampton; one daughter and her husband, Rosemary and Peter Volckmann of Sedona, AZ; and two grandchildren, Jonathan True of Hampton and Elizabeth True of Missouri.
Funeral services were held Monday in the Remick and Gendron Funeral Home, Hampton. Burial was in High Street Cemetery, Hampton.
