HAMPTON -- Richard C. "Dick" Fitts, 77, a longtime resident of Hampton, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at his home.
He was born Oct. 6, 1927, in Boston, Mass.,, a son of the late Joseph and Alice (Thurston) Fitts, and was raised in Brookline, Mass. He graduated from Brookline High School in 1947.
Mr. Fitts took up the printing trade in high school, and eventually worked for the Hampton Union newspaper. He later founded Richard C. Fitts Aluminum Products. Dick was a familiar face to many Hampton residents as he installed vinyl siding, doors and windows for 40 years. He was proud to be a call fireman on the Hampton Fire Department from 1955 to 1970 and a lifelong National Rifle Association member.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Charlotte (Magrath) Fitts of Hampton; his two daughters, Noreen Fitts of Newington and Lori Yemma and her husband, Richard, and granddaughter Angela; his stepdaughter, Stephanie McLaren and her husband, Thomas, and grandson Brendan, all of Hampton; two brothers, James Fitts of Des Moines, Iowa, and Thomas Fitts of Beverly, Mass.; a sister, Gail Watson of Ortonville, Mich.; and nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Fitts Jr.
WE REMEMBER: He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend.
SERVICES: Services will be held at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, Tuesday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in the High Street Cemetery in Hampton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Seacoast Visiting Nurse Association, 29 Lafayette Road, North Hampton, NH 03862; or to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.
