Obituary

Hollis W. Blake

April 17, 1922 - September 29, 2007

Hampton Union, Tuesday, October 2, 2007

HAMPTON -- Hollis W. Blake, 85, of Hampton died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at the Hyde Family Hospice House in Dover.

A lifelong resident of Hampton, he was born April 17, 1922, the son of the late Forest W. Mildred (Peck) Blake.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Phyllis (Small) Blake of Hampton; a son, Merrill H. Blake and his wife Pam of Hampton; two daughters, Gail M. Garrigan and her husband Paul of Hampton and Susan F. Pizon and her husband David of Stratham; his grandchildren, Laurie White, Kim Patenaude, Blake Garrigan, Brandie Garrigan, Lisa Washburn, Richard M. Blake, Merrill E. Blake, Jamie Finson, Robert Bates, Justin Pizon and Brent Pizon; a sister, Phyllis (Blake) Hoesly of Hampton; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Blake, who died in World War II, and a granddaughter, Kelly Blake.

WE REMEMBER: Mr. Blake was a graduate of Hampton Academy. He was a welder at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Shop #26. After his retirement he worked for Georgetown Sand and Gravel.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII.

He was a member of the Hampton Beach Leased land Commission for many years, and also a member of the Marelli's Gentlemen's Coffee Clutch.

The Blake family was one of Hampton's founding families.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the High Street Cemetery, Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833 or the Hyder Family Hospice House, 285 County Farm Road, Dover, NH 03820.
